IBM Maximo – MAS 9.2 is here!

MAS 9.2 AI demonstrates how IBM Maximo is being more closely integrated with artificial intelligence, natural language and mobile workflows. AI is not new to Maximo. MAS 9.1 had already laid important foundations in classification, similarity detection, FMEA support and initial GenAI capabilities. Now IBM is taking the next step. Existing Maximo processes are being more closely integrated with AI, natural language and mobile workflows. For maintenance managers, production managers and IT teams, one thing in particular is becoming increasingly important: decisions need to be supported closer to day-to-day operations.

Maximo Assistant: Using Maximo more easily via voice
It’s not just that AI can provide answers – the assistant is embedded directly within Maximo Manage. Users can retrieve work, asset and service data using natural language. Technical queries are no longer necessary. This lowers the barrier to entry and makes information available more quickly.

Condition Insights: Turning asset data into a health overview
Asset data has always been available in Maximo. With MAS 9.2, work order history, meter readings, KPIs, FMEA reports and notifications are consolidated in a more AI-driven manner. This provides a better overview of the asset’s condition, including trends, context and recommendations for possible next steps.

Agentic AI and MCP Server
The next difference lies in the architecture. MAS 9.2 lays the groundwork for connecting Maximo with AI orchestration, including via the MCP Server. This means that AI is not limited to individual alerts; in the future, it will be able to support tasks across systems.

CBM agents: From condition data to actions
This is particularly evident in condition-based maintenance. Condition Insight, RCM Advisor, Smart Alerts and Work Order Automation show the direction in which the field is heading. AI not only assists with assessing a condition, but also with strategic recommendations, notifications and the generation or updating of work orders.

MAS 9.2 KI Funktionen in IBM Maximo
MAS 9.2 AI is therefore not just ‘yet another AI feature’. The update demonstrates how IBM is embedding AI more deeply within Maximo: from querying and condition assessment right through to preparing specific actions.
