TALOS
The openBMS, developed from the diverse individual tasks involved in the highly complex operation of a nuclear power plant, is a product that focuses on the compliant, transparent and documented processing of maintenance tasks with the aim of achieving optimum, trouble-free plant availability.
With the help of openBMS and the logic of openTALOS, your system runs
- controlled
- Safe
- With maximum availability
- Economical
- over a maximum periof of time
Task
A nuclear power plant, like many other industrial facilities that are classified as critical infrastructure (KRITIS), is a highly productive, technically complex and environmentally sensitive facility that must be managed, operated and maintained over the long term by an interdisciplinary team of approximately 250 specialists, which can grow to up to 1,800 during the audit period.
This team must comply with around 1,000 internal and external regulations, rules, guidelines, standards and requirements. The power plant manager is responsible for the organisation of this team and must ensure and monitor safe operation and compliance with these requirements 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Objective
The safety and availability of a large-scale plant are determined by the quality of its operational management.
The openBMS has the goal of transparently mapping, triggering and coordinating all processes necessary for the operation and maintenance of a plant.
The economic and regulation-compliant planning, execution and documentation are supported and monitored by the openBMS.
Anyone who carries out their work with the openTALOS automatically acts in accordance with the defined processes!
The openBMS increases your planning level and prevents surprises!
The realization approach of the openBMS is that all activities in power plant operation (processes) are handled in the form of written work orders. They are planned, scheduled, packaged, initiated, executed and documented interactively between the respective participants. The documented process sequences represent the complete life cycles of the components and an immense pool of operating experience that can be used in case of repetition.
Because 70-80% of the activities to be carried out are “recurring tasks”, the detailed preparatory work is worthwhile. The jobs are then only scheduled, combined with other jobs with the same requirements and distributed among the available and qualified employees.
The collected data is also made available for downstream, knowledge-based and control loop-supported evaluation and optimization of the processes.
External application systems can be connected via various interfaces. Of particular importance is the connection to the plant’s commercial system, which is used to handle processes such as applications, approvals and orders for supplies and services. An interface to document management systems has been implemented.
benefit
Today, it is inconceivable to operate nuclear power plants in a compliant and economical manner without an integrated openTALOS. Reducing operating personnel without sacrificing safety can only be achieved with a suitable openTALOS.
The openTALOS tool allows you to clearly divide up the many individual tasks of the very complex operation of a nuclear power plant. They are designed in compliance with regulations and are organized in a controllable manner in an overarching system.
Reliability that lasts
Consistency and trust are particularly important in the KRITIS sector. openTALOS has been in use for decades and is continuously being developed further – for customers who value long-term partnerships, predictable further development and maximum system stability.
